The private equity sector is on the downside of a historical surge in 2021 deal volume. But as 2022 drew to a close, the Fed’s aggressive interest rate hikes and unpredictable company valuations slowed overall deal flow in the industry. Some of the insights presented in our report include:       

  • A portfolio company that reaches the fifth year of the hold period is most likely to turn over every top executive role during that time.
  • The tight talent market has driven executive cash compensation packages of salary and bonus to just short of the half million-dollar mark across the C-suite.
  • By the time they have grown to 500 to 1,000 employees, most portfolio companies will have at least one C-level leader in all the primary functional areas: CEO, Finance, Go-to-Market and Technology.
  • There is, on average, almost a two-year lag between acquisition of a new portfolio company and executive turnover at that company.
